5th Wall Gaming at Orycon [10 Nov 2010|08:37am]

lance_lake
We will be attending Orycon to promote Metacon. Please stop by and check us out. We are at the top of the stairs on the second floor by the exercise room (Yeah, we aren't happy with the placement, but it's our first year there).

We will be bringing "THE BOX" (for on the fly LARPs) as well as having rules for the Metaverse handy. We are also offering an "Orycon" rate of $15 ($5 off the current price) for anyone who stops by with a 5th Wall Gaming account (Create one at http://www.5thWallGaming.com) and a check/cash/money order/barter items/etc.

You have to admit. $15 is a good price. We have the local MIB group running board and card games as well as some pretty kick ass roleplaying games (The MIB are currently compiling their schedule, so it will be up soon). Heck, I'd personally pay $15 to meet and take part in a panel with the former president of FASA (Shadowrun and Battletech). That's some good gaming history right there.

Now, what is Metacon?

We will be gathering at the Clarion Hotel (http://www.stayclarion.com - (503) 252-2222 - 11518 Northeast Glenn Widing Drive, Portland, OR, 97220) for 3 days of gaming on May 27-29 2011. We have a special room rate set up for $69 a night. Just mention Metacon.

Early Bird Registration - $20 until December 31st 2010.
Pre-Registration - $25 until April 1st 2010.
At the Door - $30

Those prices are for all weekend long. For day passes, it would be $15 for one day and $25 for 2 days payable at the door only.

Additionally, we will be having a hospitality room with REAL food. Chili, Veggies, Sandwiches, Pasta, Etc. Extra cost will be $10 for the whole weekend.

If you wish to GM an event, then you need your submission entered into our system by December 31st 2010. For GMing, you get free admission for 12 hours. For 16 hours, you get a free hospitality room membership.

Also, besides the Board, Card and Roleplaying games, for those of you wanting to play in the Metaverse (our 24/7/365 LARP), everyone registered for the convention (or paying at the door) will be able to make one. All you need is a Genre you want to play in and your name. Rules can be found at (http://www.5thwallgaming.com/files/Metaverse_Ruleset.doc)

5th Wall Gaming is trying to branch out to new areas. However, I'm not a good writer for ads and so on. Therefore, I'm looking to farm it out.

I will be offering a $25 cash prize (or paypal or check, your choice) to the best ad for 5th Wall Gaming. It can be a video that I can s...end out to prospective clients, Text that I can plaster onto Craigs list or even a sound file that I can have podcasts play.

In fact, here's what I'm going to do.

$25 for the best print ad.
$25 for the best 25 second video.
$25 for the best 25 second audio ad.
$25 for the best banner (468 x 60 pixels).

Now, the rules.
1) The contest starts now.
2) You have until the 1st of February at 8am to submit your files.
3) 1 entry per category per person.
4) All submissions must be sent to Contest@5thWallGaming.com
5) Winners will be announced February 5th. Winners may be contacted before that.
6) If the video or audio is above 25 seconds (even a little bit), it is forfeit.
7) All submissions belong to 5th Wall Gaming.
8) The ad must include the following.
a) The name "5th Wall Gaming"
b) That we are based in Portland, OR
c) Our phone number (503-465-4963)

If you want to run a premade LARP we are already running, then the deadline is June 15th at 8am PST.

Both will allow you to earn points which will get you into the convention for free, get food, crash space at the hotel, etc (Note, you need to earn enough points to get these rewards. See http://www.5thWallGaming.com for details).

No matter what though, don't forget to stop by the LARP area at Dragonflight and say hi. :)

ConQuest NW LARP GM Recruitment Drive [19 Oct 2008|11:12pm]

lance_lake
If this kind of post is not allowed here, please feel free to delete it Moderators. Thank you.

5th Wall Gaming (http://www.5thWallGaming.com) now has the LARPing schedule up for ConQuest NW. If any of you are going and want to play in a LARP, please log into the site and RSVP for the games of your choice. Space is going fast.

Also, we are offering anyone who GMs enough for us free admission to the convention (and crash space in the room if you GM enough hours). We work on a points system, so please contact me directly if you have any questions about that.

While we do run a few Gothic games, we do not run any WoD or NWoD games. We figure we will leave that to the Camarilla. Instead, we run games that run the gambit to the deep, 4 hour long games to the short 30 min. games. But I'd like to make clear that the only vampire we have in our game has a toothache and just wants to be left alone. :)

The deadline to get these benefits as well as sign up to GM games is December 1st at 12:01am PST. Thank you for your time.

LARPers Wanted
Hello, I am just trying to get the word out about a portal that has been created to draw together LARPers in the Portland and Salem, Oregon, and Vancouver, Washington, areas. We are looking for all kinds of LARPers from boffer players, to socio-political players, to horror players, to comedy players, to medieval players, so on and so forth, to get together and network. There will be resources for GMs and Players from all backgrounds of games, and we are looking to add more. We are also looking to get the word out about games, conventions, and chronicles/long running games.
You can find the site at:

Just wanted to point out that 5th Wall Gaming (http://www.5thWallGaming.com) is going to be going to a few conventions in August and we are working on some other LARP venues for next year (so if you want LARPs at your con, contact us).

Come check it out. At the very least, it hopefully will be a place that LARPers will feel free to discuss things LARPish.

So this community has been mostly Dead. I want to hear from some of you out there. What WoD or NWoD games have you been in lately? Tell us your story.

I have been playing in a multitude of game.

#1 I have been playing in a Mortals NWoD game where I am a Latino guy named Ceazer. He is a Mexican gang bangen thug, who loves god and his people, the !3th Street Templars. He is killing demons for god Yo!

#2 I am playing in an alternate version of Mage: the Awakening. Where the world is more HP Love craft style. The Old ones and Elder Things are everywhere. Hallows are places where elder things have laid to rest or refuse to die. Gnosis and Wisdom are combined in to one stat and its called hubris. The only way to increase your power is by doing fucked up things, and it makes you Hubris go up not down.

#3 The Super natural Challenge. A few of my friends think their favorite type of supernatural will win the battle of the night as it were. I gave them 375 xp and told them to make their characters according to standard character creation rules and get back to be when they were done. At that point they will be plotting to kill each other.

#4 I have also I have joined the Camarilla. Strange that really, a year ago I would have told you that you were retarded for suggesting joining the camarilla. Now I have not only joined but I have made a character, become the Prisci Harpy and sired a crap ton of childer who are now flooding to the Imperium of the evergreen rose.

On an OOC level I started helping the domain coordinator get the site open and ready for inhabitation. Making sure the place gets cleaned etc. Also I volunteered to help the Domain Storyteller to run games and do work at game. Unfortunately the DST ran in to a huge bump in his job and now he has had to step down. That is where I come in, I will most likely be the DST for the Vancouver Washington domain soon. SO I invite the peoples of this community to join the Camarilla if you haven't already.

#5 I also run an exalted game, I know its not strictly WoD or NWoD but its close enough that I would give it a mention.

Adorable kittens need a home by Christmas [19 Dec 2007|09:36am]

lance_lake
First of all, I am cross posting this to several groups I belong to. I'm sorry if you also belong to several of the groups, but I feel this is important enough to do.

Second, the below post was sent to me about a week ago and still, no one has asked for the kittens. If any of you (or your friends) are interested in having a loveable kitten come Christmas time, then please go to http://www.applegatefarms.us/ and fill out the form. If you have any other questions, please contact dreamshappen@applegatefarms.us

Thank you for your patience.

=================================
I need three cat homes to place kittens in before Christmas.

I have 5 beautiful, healthy, Tonkinese kittens who are now ready for that next development stage of finding and falling in love with their very own people. I bred a litter because I had a request and waiting list of 2 families who wanted mid-winter kittens. Both have since backed out (for their own, legitimate, if galling, reasons) and I haven't had anyone materialize out of thin air yet who is the perfect home. My website is down and is rather defunct so we've not had a strong presence on the internet to get the word out that we have them.

I would really like to gift each kitten with their new family by x-mas.

I have Heffalump and Woozle - champaign mink boys - They would like to be placed together. They are closely bonded and very very loving. They are near-identical and will have that siamese 'point' look with a softer oatmeal body color (instead of white), chocolate brown points and aqua eyes.

Rabbit and Piglet - a champaign point female and a champaign solid female - They could be placed together (Life's Little Instruction book says kittens are better in pairs!) but their personality type could go to single homes too.. they would just expect a LOT of attention from their new humans.. and climb right under the covers in bed to get it. Rabbit will maintain a white body color, blue eyes and brown points. Piglet will have green-aqua eyes and be cinnamon/honey (points and body) colored all over.

Christopher Robin is the pick of the litter - I so wish he had been a girl he would be perfect in our show/breeding program if he were. He could easily be placed in a show home and his unusual color, a platinum solid, gives him a soft, pastel grey, body color all over (points and body) with green-aqua eyes. He is confident, cheeky, and doesn't need any other cats to keep him happy or entertained.. just you.

Introduction [11 Apr 2007|11:00pm]

<i> Greetings, everyone! <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/Wolfietaj/Wolficons/smile.gif" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"></a>
Thought I'd drop by and say hello.
I've created a LiveJournal profile for my character, Nothing-to-Prove. My personal comments will be like this, in italics.
The character hails from Sonoma County, CA but I'm located in EugeneOR. I'm getting together a howl chorus group here in town and this year, I'll be conducting a howling workshop at Burning Man. I decided it would be cool to costume as a werewolf to do the workshop in but changed my mind. I'm making a lifesized Crinos rod puppet now!
I came up with Nothing-to-Prove's character as a means to act it out and give her a schtick. She'll stand about 8.5' tall...short for a Crinos but tall for a Uktena. Naturally she's a Galliard and I also made her a Metis simply because I enjoy playing them the most. Her deformity is Hyperactive Sense of smell...yeah, she has a lot of trouble when the pollen flies and as for BSDs and fomori...forget it, every mucous membrane from the waist up turns to water if she comes within 100 yards of them. For awhile, her old pack's Ragabash jokingly called her "Canary-in-a-Coal-Mine" because of that. And yes, they did treat her that way until she showed them how well she could fight.
Anyway, I just started her page so it's a little bare but by the summer it should be tickin' 'n hummin' with IC blogs and OOC documentary-style entries.

The unwelcome breed... [10 Feb 2006|03:15pm]

mukkahai
[ mood | hopeful ]

This is as close as I can get to a Washington gaming forum. Hopefully, someone near where I am will see this. I'm in Carson, WA, and looking for a game with a very open-minded ST. See, I was in Chicago, visiting friends back home, and they invited me to do a one-shot at the LARP they were in, held by Mind's Eye Theatre(MET), and so we started developing a character. They had a changing breeds book, and I looked through it, and when I hit Ananasi, I became intrigued. A character was already forming in my head...gears were turning. They ruled out Ananasi, on account of such a character would be killed on discovery by most of the group. I'm looking for a game that might have an opening for an Ananasi character. I'm almost done with the basic personal info, and will be working on background next, which I have ideas about, and then stats. That's just the way characters form in my mind. I could use a second person to bounce ideas off of, and I could use a game to throw this critter into. Here's hoping...

Warning! [12 Dec 2005|07:48pm]

crystallinegirl
Dear White Wolf Users,

Like many other well-known companies of the last few years, White Wolf was the target of an attack by international hackers this weekend. These hackers are now attempting to extort money from us with the threat of posting user data to the internet. We have no intention of paying this money, and are in contact with the FBI in an attempt to bring these criminals to justice.

We are choosing to make this public so that our users and fans can take any precautions needed to protect themselves. We are recommending that if you have used your White Wolf user password as the password for any other services you use on the internet, that you change them immediately.

These hackers were able to exploit a flaw in our software and access user data, this data included usernames, email addresses and encrypted passwords. As far as we can ascertain, they were unable to access any credit card data (nor have they claimed they did). However, it is possible for the encrypted passwords they accessed to be decrypted given enough time.

In addition, the site will be down for the next few days while we evaluate some of the software we are using and take appropriate action to help prevent future attacks.

We appreciate your patience and concern while we work through the details of this process.

In addition to this posting we will be emailing our userbase with this information. For correspondence regarding this, please direct all queries to wwaccounts@white-wolf.com .

Perchance to Dream LARP [16 Nov 2005|12:05pm]

Hey, I was surfing the net looking for places to pimp myself and found this LJ group.
My name is Arianna, I am an ST for a Changeling: the Dreaming LARP. It just started in May so I am trying to get the word out there to anyone who would be interested.
We play every 1st Saturday, from 4pm-9pm. The game itself is a little less adventure and more socio-politically based.
If you're interested, email me at storyteller@perchancetodreamlarp.org
You can also visit the website at www.perchancetodreamlarp.org (some images and very few links are broken, I was just forced to change domain names and I'm slowly but surely fixing all the bugs).

Gamestorm LARP needs GM's. Portland, OR. March 24th - March 26th [23 Sep 2005|05:01pm]

lance_lake
(Crossposted on a few Portland Gaming Journals)

We are currently recruiting LARP GM's to help us run LARPs at Gamestorm (March 24th - March 26 of 2006).

We ask that you provide GM'ing for at least 12 hours during the weekend. More hours are not required, but appreciated (and will get you added bonuses at the end of the con).

We can offer you free admission to the convention and a pizza party at the end. Also, we plan on pooling money together and getting a room (a suite if we can afford it) and you will have an 8 hour block that you can be guaranteed a bed. :)

If you are interested, please contact me ASAP at gamestorm@mostdeadlygame.com. I need a definitive list by the end of November. Thanks. :)

is a better list of Portland WoD games then linking to the camarilla game page. Not all of us WoD players in Portland like the Cam. :)

Larp query [03 Jul 2005|11:11pm]

maudova
[ mood | contemplative ]

So on saturday sara_super_id and my self went to a LARP. Ahhhhh! YOu know whats funny some of them were wearing capes! when people in the past told me they larped I would think "Cape wearing larpers", Its true! Wow It boggles the mind. sara_super_id was one of the cape wearers!

So we have been working on our characters, writing them out and what not only to find out that we can't write out our characters as per the rules in the basic books!! So half of the work we have done has been invalidated by house rules....damn it. The game it self has been simplified in some degree and the damn rock, paper, scissors thing was removed. Thank god, or Joe...

Well anyways I'm going throught the process of creating my character and I can't get a hold of the Character ST to speak with her over things. I can't tell if it is worth writing out the 1500 word character history or not. ARGH!!!!

So there are about 5 things the St's have taken over during character creation. They have removed your ability chose your freebie points, what disciplines you have at creation, and you cannot buy generation as a background. From what i have heard is that your generation is ramdomly generated or some crap like that. While I understand that they don't want everyone to pick the generation back ground and make 8th gen characters it also suck to be forced in to a 14th gen if that what they chose to pick.

As a player I think it is important to have control of my character in the creation process. Having the ST's interfere in the prosses on this level is a bit to extream for me. So this all ties in to having to write up a 1500 word character history, how am i to do this if i don't know what disciplines, what my generation is, and what other special things I have to bring to the table beyond the standard set block of traits, abilities and attributes (no control of freebie points).

What do you guys think? Is this way over the top St control or is this something you would just openly accept and move past. Personaly this feels like far to much ST meddling.

sara_super_id

So, I am thinking of playing in a LARP. It depends on a few things, if maudova wants to do it too. If I get a copy of the rules for Mind's Eye Theater The Masquerade (yes they are still old WoD).

So then I need to write a character. In the past I have always written characters the opposite of me small, of a different race, different interests and strengths. But now I will have to play this character like an actress does. So I don't do accents, I am about as opposite of minority race as you can get and I am tall!

So I am trying to think of things that would be fun to play that would be different, but still work with my body and my Oregon accent. My character cannot be from Oregon--that is a rule. They pick my generation for me, but I can influence it with character background. I am for sure playing a Malkavian. I love costumes, so I can dress up any weird way possible.

Any advice for character ideas? I am not trying to copy anybody, but descriptions of Malkavs others have played in LARP might be a good springboard for me to make something original up.

Anyone know where there's a Mind's Eye Theater the Masquerade that I can pay ;) to download?
